Bandless Brothers Present "Death Ball" Event, June 14th

Postby BandlessBrothers » Tue Dec 30, 2008 10:00 pm

The Bandless Brothers will be hosting a one day Big Game Event with Giant Paintball on June 14th at Giant's Alpine field. The "Battle for the Death Ball" is loosely based on Stars Wars. We would like to get players more involved in the initial planning of this upcoming event. Therefore, we are asking for your input and suggestions. Please let us know if there are any specific characters, props, missions, etc that you would like included in the games. Anything that we can do to make the game more enjoyable for you will be given serious consideration.

Check back, as additional game information will be provided as the game date approaches.

We look forward to your feedback.

Great concept! I think we should take it a step further. If the player has an idea for a prop to be used in the game and want to construct it themselves, they can given that the prop is pre-approved by the Bandless Brothers, meets the safety rules of the field and goes along with the storyline developed by the players.

I love the poster, great job "Triple H".

How about the Ewoks Vs. Storm troopers story line. Game 1 Control flagstations. Game 2. 2 games of attack and defend with a time limits or mission based games . Game 3. Final battle. I like the idea of a moble hostpitol for each side or more medics. For a mission we should have teams plant bombs at certain flag stations across enemy lines to promote more team play . Mabe we can have a couple points of intrest per side. Like a fuel depot, Raidar/ comuncations, CPs. They can be spread out on the map. We can have have teams retrieve intel or disable them to pick up points. Whatcha think?

Mike B. had a good idea. Have a big exercise ball to battle over for the final battle. The ball could be the death ball.

Those are some great ideas guys. I have a few ideas and maybe some changes to the different roles we have encountered like medics and snipers, and maybe even developing the spy role more. Also I have some ideas about possibly raising extra money at the event, and acquiring give aways for the post game. I know its tough for us to have meetings where everybody shows but we need to start planning this thing quickly June will come up very fast. The last time we were going to try a conference phone thing maybe we can do that again, or how about some type of chat room we can all be in at the same time, I don't know if that would work just thinking out loud.

You're right Mike we should schedule some type of meeting soon. I'll send out an e-mail to ask what date and time would work best for next month. I would like to hear your ideas. In planning for the game we must keep it in mind that most of the players at our game will not be scenario players so we have to stick to a Big Game format and keep it simple. We got a lot of positive feedback on our Underworld game. People seem to like the way we ran that one, we kept it simple and it makes our job easier. We also need to talk about advertising for the game. Jeff started it but we need to expand on it.

Here's the start of a story line and rules based on feedback recieved so far.

Story Line
Damaged by recent fighting with Jedi forces, the Death Ball and its crew of Imperial Storm Troopers finds itself stranded light years away from familiar space on the surface of a forest covered moon. Unable to escape barrages of the Jedi knights who have followed them to this distant moon, the Imperial Storm Troopers are desperate to piece together the last remaining materials they need to rebuild their Death Ball and escape to their freedom. The Jedi knights are set on preventing this from happening and are in a race against time to take control of the Death Ball. However, they can’t accomplish this themselves as they lack the knowledge of the local terrain and tools necessary to navigate the dense forest. They seek the help of the local Ewoks to provide them the primitive tools necessary to win this battle.
-How will the saga end?
-Will the Jedis win the support of the Ewoks or will the Imperial Storm Troopers reach them first?
-Will the Storm Troopers recover the materials necessary to rebuild their damaged Death Ball in time?
-Who will control the Death Ball when the dust settles and the light sabers go dim?
Find out at the Battle for the Death Ball.

Suggested Point Structure:
Imperial Storm Troopers:
Recover materials for Death Ball: 100 pts (5 Available, total = 500 pts)
Steal, kidnap, take hostige an Ewok: 100 pts (10 Available, total = 1000 pts)

Jedis:
Recover Ewok: 50 pts (10 Available, total = 500 pts)
Steal Death Ball materials: 200 pts (5 Available, total = 1000 pts)

Additional points awarded for control of the field (25 awarded every time a team takes control of a flag station, 100 pts awarded every time a team over runs the other team).

-Some Ewoks carry with them one time use of a glider or catapult allowing 3 players to move from one region of the field to another region of the field untouched until they land.
-Some Death Ball materials may provide transportation capabilities for 3 players to move from one location to another without coming accross enemy forces.

FInal Battle:
A final battle will be held for control of the Death Ball. Without the help of their new found allies, the Jedis will be forced to face the dark forces of the Imperial Storm Troopers in head to head battle for control of the Death Ball. Only one side will walk away with the last 250 pts when the battle ends.

Additional Information:
Ewoks were known for their abilities to set traps, use bones as tools, wear skulls on their robes, fly wooden gliders, and use catapults. Maybe some of you have creative ways to integrate these into the game. Also, if there are any traits or characteristics of the Jedis or Imperial Storm Troopers that can be integrated into the game, please provide your suggestions.

Don't limit ideas to strictly Star Wars. What about Space Balls? As previously stated, this game will not be based strictly on events that occured in the Star Wars trillagies. It should be a new chapter in the story.
See you on the battle field

Good start to a story. Everyone should feel free to provide your input and add to the storyline.

Additionally, we would like to get some experienced players to take on some leadership roles for both teams. As with the Underworld game in October, we expect to have a lot of younger players out there who are less experienced at big game and scenario game formats. It would be great to have some experienced players out there showing them the way and encouraging everyone to take an active role in the game. If you, or your team, are interested in helping out, please let us know by responding to this thread or by emailing the Bandless Brothers at ContactUs@bandlessbrothers.com.
